Good News/Bad News
I was on the PMI Website today and found some great-ish news. The Sixth Edition of the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) has been pushed back from earlier projections.
Quoting the Project Management Institute website:
“We expect to publish the sixth edition in Q3 2017.”
Why is that good news? It means that you’ll have until late 2017 or early 2018 to take the exam under the existing PMBOK 5 question set and criteria. Hurrah!
The bad news is that the fears about the new PMBOK 6 exam had already spread, and Prometrics testing centers around the world are apparently overloaded with PMP applicants. On the LinkedIn group for Registered Education Providers, Klas Skogmar posted this this week and has already gotten affirmation from four sources:
“We are hearing reports, from various locations around the world, that potential PMI credential aspirants are experiencing seat availability issues at the various Prometric Test Centres in recent months.”
I believe that this will settle down when folks get on the PMI website and find out we’re not looking at a new exam for over a year…but…
Just thought you ought to know.
(And if you’re looking for PMP training…live, virtual or corporate…We still have a year’s worth of wonderful materials and amazing training!!! Join our next public training November 7-8 in Rockville, MD (DC/Baltimore area)
As always, any time I can be of service, I’m just an e-mail away.
